Webb name meaning:
English and Scottish: occupational name for a weaver, early Middle English webbe, from Old English webba (a primary derivative of wefan ‘to weave’; compare Weaver 1). This word survived into Middle English long enough to give rise to the surname, but was already obsolescent as an agent noun; hence the secondary forms with the agent suffixes -er and -ster. (Ancestry.com).

In an undated document from about this time, payments are made by John Webb for covering a certain wall in the Garden of the Guild of the Holy Cross, in the church in Stratford. (S16).

In 1488 and 1489, from Monday next after the Feast of the Translation of St. Thomas the Martyr, 3 Henry VII., to Monday next after the same Feast, 4 Henry VII, John Webbe of Stratford was fined 8s4d by the church in Stratford. (S12).
In 1495-1496 John Webbe is paid by the church in Stratford for growncelynge yn the barn and in the kitchen, 8d per diem; for his table half the time, 6d; making a door and a window, 5d, &c. At the same time, Roger Webbe is paid for mending the cross opposite the Chapel, and in the kitchen of the said Chapel, 8d; dressyng borde, 4d. (S14). How is Rover related?
John Webb paid rent from between 8 July 1499 to 13 July 1500 in the Gild temements on Wodestrete in Stratford. (S17).

In 1501-1502 fines are paid to the church in Stratford by John Webbe of Tarbicke and Richard Webb of chepyngnorton. (S15). Is this the same John, and who is Richard?
