Cornelis VIELE
HUSBAND:
[F7998]. Cornelis (Cornelise) VIELE.
Born in 1643; son of Cornelis Volkertszen VIELE [F15996] and Maria Du TRIEUX [F15997].
He married Suster BOUTS [F7999]. He settled early in Schenectady, New York. In company with Claas Frederickse Van Petten, he bought Marten Cornelise Van Isselsteyn's bouwery in 1668. In 1670 he sold his moiety consisting of 12 morgans and 130 rods, cith house, barn, two ricks and garden to Jurriaen Teunise Tappen of Albany. He took in exchange a house and lot in Albany on the west corner of State and Pearl Streets. Three years later he sold this house and lot to sheriff Richard Pretty. In 1671 he was a licensed tapster in Schenectady. In 1677 he received a grant of 34 acres of land by patent on the "Steene kill", about 4 miles west of Schenectady, and on the south side of the Mowhawk river. He died after 1690.

Born about 1647; daughter of Hendrick L. BOUT/SASSIAN [15998]. She was of Schenechtady, New York. She married Cornelis VIELE [7998].
CHILDREN of Cornelis VIELE [7998] and Suster BOUTS [7999]:
- [S1]. Arnout VIELE. He lived in Albany, New York. For many years he was the provincial interpreter for the Mowhawk Indians, and attended their yearly gathering at Albany. He often visited them in the western wilderness. On account of their high esteem for him, and in recognition of his valuable services, in 1683 they gave him a parcel of land, called "Wachkeerhoha", located above Schenectady on the north side of the river. In 1687 he was taken prisoner by the French as he was on his way to Ottawa to trade. Espousing the cause of Leisler in opposition to Col. Ingoldsby, he was turned out of his office of interpretor, after which he retired to Long Island; but being held "in great esteem by the Indians" and being "a good and faithful interpreter" he was soon recalled to the office of Indian Interpreter. He married Geeritje GERITSE, of Amsterdam, in 1677.
- [S2]. Cornelis VIELE. He married (1) Maria ALOFF. She was killed by the French and Indians on 9 FEB 1690. He married (2) on 1 APR 1700 to Diwer VAN PETTEN, dau. of Claas VAN PETTEN. He settled on the property "Maalwyck." In 1710 he bought half of Benjamin Robert's property, together with "Benten" Island, from his step-son Pieter Clement for 445 pounds. In 1712 he bought "Poversen's landeryen" on the opposite (south side) of the Mohawk river from Jan Hendrickse BOUT.
