John TENNEY
HUSBAND:
[F28672]. John TENNEY. [PC T1-1].
Born [in 1534 (S5)][in 1538 (S2)][About 1539 (S3)] in Brigham, Yorkshire, England (S2, S3).
He married Jane [F28672] in FEB 1564.
He was called a Yeoman. There are two types of farmers. The word farmer comes from the French word fermier, meaning renter. Those who only rented the land were properly speaking, farmers. Those who owned and worked their own land were called yoeman. John Tenney, therefore, was not a tenant farmer, but he was a property owner working his own land. (S1).
His will was dated 9 JUL 1613 at Brigham, Yorkshire, England. His son Francis is the only child mentioned in the will. (S2). He died at Brigham, Yorkshire, England. (S3).
