Johannes Van KNICKERBOCKER
HUSBAND:
[F7992]. Johannes Van KNICKERBOCKER (Van BERGHAN).
The name Knickerbocker means a worker in brick, clay and marble, which was his original occupation.
He was born about 1625. He married Juliana Van MARNIX [F7993]. He was a captain in the Navy of the Netherlands. He served in the battle of Solebay off the coast of England in the year 1665. He died in Holland.
The Battle of Sole Bay was one of the engagements in the Third Anglo-Dutch War of 1672-1674. During this battle, DeRuyter, with 75 ships surprised the French and English. The French, with 35 ships, withdrew. DeRuyter massed his ships against the slightly smaller English fleet. The English were mauled badly, but DeRuyter and his Dutch fleet were forced to withdraw.
WIFE:
[F7993]. Juliana Van MARNIX.
She was born about 1629; daughter of Rutger Van MARNIX [F15986]. She married Johannes Van KNICKERBOCKER [F7992].

- Gerritt Von BERGHAN, KNICKERBOCKER. Died in 1655 at Antwerp, Holland.
- [F3996]. Harman Jansz KNICKERBOCKER. Born 18 MAR 1648 in the Friesland province of the Netherlands. He married Lysbeth (Elizabeth) Janse Van De BOGART [3997] on 3 JAN 1675. He died 2 APR 1721 at Schaghticoke, New York, age 72 years, 9 months and 4 days. He is buried in the Witenagemott burial field (now called the Knickerbocker Cemetery) in Old Schaghticoke, New York
