He married Thankful Almina ELSTON [F55] on 18 MAR 1847 in Toulon, Stark County, Illinois. They lived in Illinois and Wisconsin. They moved to Macon County, Missouri between 1864 and 1867; then to Hamilton Township, Harrison County, Missouri by 1877.
In the 1880 census, his widowed sister Mary, age 62, is living with him.
He died 29 NOV 1883 in Hamilton Township, Harrison County, Missouri; and was buried 30 NOV 1883 in the Old Cemetery in Eagleville, Harrison County, Missouri.

Born 10 FEB 1832 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania; daughter of William ELSTON [F110] and Permelea [F111].
She married David William HOWARD [F54] on 18 MAR 1847.
She died 11 MAY 1906 in Logan, Beaver County, Oklahoma; and was buried in the Old Cemetery in Eagleville, Harrison County, Missouri.

She died 10 DEC 1912 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, and is buried in the Roseland Cemetery in Los Angeles.
- William Wilson HOWARD. Born 4 MAY 1850 in Toulon, Stark County, Illinois. He married Elizabeth Story MUNFORD on 1 APR 1877 in Bethany, Harrison County, Missouri. He possibly married (2) Fannie L. CORY 25 FEB 1880 in Bethany, Harrison County, Missouri. He died 2 AUG 1919.
- James Edward HOWARD. Born 24 APR 1852 in Toulon, Stark County, Illinois. He never married. He died 24 MAY 1928.
- Lewis O. HOWARD. Born 8 OCT 1854 in Toulon, Stark County, Illinois. He married Nancy Jane MUNFORD 28 DEC 1876 in Bethany, Harrison County, Missouri. He died 26 APR 1894 in Eagleville, Harrison County, Missouri; and was buried in the West Cemetery in Eagleville.
- Mary E. HOWARD. Born 8 JAN 1857 in Toulon, Stark County, Illinois. She married William L. LITTLE on 23 DEC 1877 in Bethany, Harrison County, Missouri. (1857-)
- Elisha Allen HOWARD. He was called Allen. Born 18 JAN 1860 in Toulon, Stark County, Illinois. He died 4 SEP 1883 in Eagleville, Harrison County, Missouri; and was buried in the West Cemetery in Eagleville, Missouri.
- Deborah Permelea HOWARD. Born 20 OCT 1862 in Toulon, Stark County, Illinois. She married Justin YOUNG.
- Sarah HOWARD. Born 20 FEB 1864 in Toulon, Stark County, Illinois. She married Frank SHACKLETON on 31 DEC 1882. she died 17 OCT 1924 in Eagleville, Harrison County, Missouri. Both she and her husband are buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Eagleville, Harrison County, Missouri.

- Thankful Almina ("Minnie") HOWARD. Born 18 NOV 1869 in New Cambria, Macon County, Missouri. She married Henry MARTIN on 20 DEC 1894. she died 2 MAY 1953.
- Joseph B HOWARD. Born 14 JUL 1872 in Eddyville, Wapello County, Iowa. He never married. He died 6 FEB 1922, and is buried in the West Cemetery in Eagleville, Harrison County, Missouri.
