John HOAR
HUSBAND:
[F7238]. John HOAR.
Born about 1616 at Gloucester, England; son of Charles HOARE [F14476] and Joanna HINCKSMAN [F14477]. He married Alice LYLE [7239] in 1645. He died 2 APR 1704 at Concord, Massachusetts.
WIFE:
[F7239]. Alice.
Born about 1624. She married John HOAR [F7238] in 1645.
She is said to be Alice LYLE (LISLE), a daughter of John, Lord LISLE [F14478] and Alice BECONSAWE [F14479], however, note the following, from {S4}:
We can thank F. Phelps Leach and his sister Elizabeth M. Leach Rixford for the myth that the wife of John Hoar was Alice Lisle. His work on the Hungerford family postulated that Alice was a [?Lisle]. His sister removed the brackets and question mark. No one challenged them for years. The evidence through the Lisle family do NOT show a dau named Alice that married John Hoar. Supposedly, the will of Alicia Lisle of Moyles Court bears this out. {S4}.
She died 5 JUN 1696-1697 at Concord, Massachusetts.
CHILDREN of John HOAR [F7238] and Alice LYLE [F7239]:
- [F3619]. Mary HOAR. Born about 1648. She married Benjamin GRAVES [F3618] on 21 OCT 1668. She died 5 JUN 1697 in Massachusetts.
