William Joseph HANDY and Birdie Alice Pearl HENTZE

Born 8 April 1869 in Cameron, Clinton County, Missouri, son of James Marion HANDY [F24] and Sarah M. STOVALL [F25] (S4). Many sources say he was born in Jefferson County, so it is probable that the family resided here for a time.
He always watched for new areas that the government was opening up for settlement. He would travel there, select the best piece of land he could find, stake claim to it by registering with the nearest land office, and then move his family to the land to begin developing it.
He married Birdie Alice Pearl HENTZE [F13] on 9 JUN 1901 in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas. Soon after their marriage they were living at Newton, Harvey County, Kansas. In 1905 they were living at Bethany, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. About 1910 they moved to California in order to live near Birdie's family. Her sisters and their families lived in the area. By about 1917 they had moved back to Oklahoma. He moved his family to a farm in the rich bottomland near Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He died 8 MAY 1933 in West Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma; and was buried 11 MAY 1933 at Red Fork Cemetery (also called Clinton Oaks Cemetery), Tulsa County, Oklahoma. Clinton Oaks Cemetery is located on West 43rd St between S 24th West Ave & Zenith, Lat: 36° 06' 04"N, Lon: 96° 01' 05"W. Born 22 (23-S5) JUN 1884 at Eddyville, Wapello County, Iowa; daughter of Charles William Eugene HENTZE [F26] and Amanda Ann HOWARD [F27].
She married William Joseph HANDY [F12] on 9 JUN 1901 in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas.
She died 3 (5-S5) APR 1942 in San Diego, San Diego County, California; and was buried at the Mount Hope Cemetery in San Diego, San Diego County, California.

- Sarah Olive HANDY. Born 15 SEP 1901 at Newton, Harvey County, Kansas. She married C. Everett DEAN. They lived in Oklahoma. She died 30 APR 1978.
- James Clifford HANDY. Born 22 MAR 1903 at Newton, Harvey County, Kansas. He married Jessie HAMILTON. He died 4 NOV 1963.
- Charles Forest HANDY. Born 21 FEB 1905 at Bethany, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.
- Howard Eldridge HANDY. Born 12 JAN 1907 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. He married Alice KELLEY.
- Ora Dean HANDY. Born 1 MAY 1908 at Wanette, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. She died 9 AUG 1908.
- Nellie Pauline HANDY. Born 1 (15) SEP 1909 at Beeville, Bee County, Texas. She married Bernard WEST. She died 8 OCT 1928.
- William Paul HANDY. Born 2 DEC 1910 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. He died 11 JUL 1911.
- [F6]. Glenn Russell HANDY. Born 18 JAN 1912 at Belvedere, Los Angeles County, California. He married (3) Mildred Ella TENNEY [F7]. He died on 31 MAY 1999.
- Hazel Lillian HANDY. Born 8 SEP 1913 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. She died 10 SEP (DEC) 1917.
- Cecil Glenn HANDY. Born 9 NOV 1914 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. He died 26 DEC 1914.
- Anita Estella HANDY. Born 14 FEB 1916 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. She died 11 AUG 1916.
- Edna May HANDY. Born 25 JUN 1917 at Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. She died 31 AUG 1917.
- Ruth Arlene HANDY. Born 25 APR 1918 (1919) at Sepulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma. She died 13 FEB 1920.
- Chester LeRoy HANDY. Born 26 (28-funeral notice) APR 1921 at Los Angeles (Van Nuys-funeral notice), Los Angeles County, California. He was a letter carrier for the Post Office in Boise, Idaho. He died 15 JUL 1974 at Boise, Idaho. Funeral Services were held on 22 JUL 1974 at the Moore’s Memory Chapel, in Tulsa, Oklahoma; with Reverend Bill Sturm and Rev. Raymond Jackson officiating. He was buried that day at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
