Born (about 1685)(16 MAR 1685-S11)(16 MAR 1683-1684-S12) at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts; son of James HAMBLIN, Jr. [F1856] and Mary DUNHAM [F1857]. (S5). He was christened on 16 MAR (1683-1684-S17)(1685-S6) at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S5, S6, S8).

His father is said to have lived at Hamblin’s Plain in West Barnstable, so that is probably where Elkenah was born and grew up.

He was married (1) Abigail HAMBLIN [F929] on 13 APR 1711 in Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts; the service was performed by Justice Gorham. (S4, S6). His wife Abigail died in 1733.

He married (2) Margaret BATES of Plymouth (S6), on 11 AUG 1734. (S6).

His will was dated 26 MAR 1754. (S6). He died in 1764 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S5, S6, S11, S12).

She was married to Elkenah HAMBLIN [F928] on 13 (14-S11) APR 1711 by Justice Gorham. (S3).

She died 29 MAY 1733 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S3, S4, S6).

CHILDREN of Elkenah HAMBLIN [F928] and Abigail HAMBLIN [F929]:

  2. Reuben HAMBLIN. Born 13 MAR 1714 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S4) He was mentioned in his uncle's will, John Hamblin, in 1734. He married 29 MAY 1939 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, Hope HAMBLIN (HAMBLEN-S9), his cousin. His will was dated 22 APR 1753. He died in 1754 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
  3. Abigail HAMBLIN. Born (7-S6)(27-S4) OCT 1715 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
  4. John HAMBLIN. Born 2 NOV 1717 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S4, S6). He married Jerusha HAMBLIN on 23 JAN 1740. He died 8 AUG 1767.
  5. Rachel (Rachel-S4)(Rachell-S9)(Rachael-S6) HAMBLIN. Born 7 SEP 1720 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S4, S6). She died in 1722 (S4, S6), probably also at Barnstable.
  6. Patience HAMBLIN. Born 12 JUN 1721 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S4, S6). She married Seth FISH.
  7. Tabitha HAMBLIN. Born 14 APR 1723 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S4, S6). She married John SANDERSON.

Margaret BATES.
Possibly Margaret CHURCHILL, widow of Samuel BATES.(S9). She was of Plymouth, Massachusetts. (S6, S9).

Margaret Churchill, daughter of Joseph CHURCHILL and Sarah HICKS, was born in OCT 1684. Margaret CHURCHILL married Samuel BATES, who died on 6 Apr 1730 in Wareham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. Margaret BATES married Elkanah HAMBLIN on 11 AUG 1734. (S6, S9). It is probable that they did not have children.
