Born 6 MAY 1573 at Roxby, Yorkshire, England; son of George GRANT [F9084] and Joane CLARYONETTE [F9085]. He married Alice TURBERVILLE [F4543] on 7 JUL 1600 at Roxby, Yorkshire, England.

Born (about 1575-1577-S2)(about 1577-S1,S3) at Woolbridge, Dorsetshire, England; daughter of Matthew TURBERVILLE [F9086]. She married John GRANT [F4542] on 7 Jul 1600 in Roxby, Yorkshire, England. She died 31 May 1640 in England.

CHILDREN of John GRANT [F4542] and Alice TURBERVILLE [F4543]:
  1. [F2271]. Miriam Frances (Mary) GRANT. She was Miriam Frances GRANT, but is usually called Mary. Born in 1614. She married Thomas DIBBLE [F2270] in 1635-1636 at Weymouth, Dorsetshire, England. She died 14 MAY 1681 at Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut.
  2. Matthew GRANT. Born 27 OCT 1601 in Devonshire, England. Married (1) Priscilla GREY 16 Nov 1625 Devonshire, England. Matthew Grant was one of the original company who came in the Mary and John to Dorchester in 1630; was a freeman there in 1631; removed to Windsor among the very earliest; was second town clerk there, also the first and for many years the principal surveyor; was a prominent man in the church. He was a carpenter by trade. He married (2) Susanna CAPEN, widow of William Rockwell, and daughter of Bernard Capen, on 29 MAY 1645 at Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut. He died 16 DEC 1681 at Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut. Matthew, through his son Samuel, is the ancester base of Ulysses S. Grant.
