John COLQUHOUN
HUSBAND:
[F4416]. (Sir) John COLQUHOUN. (Cahoon or Calhoun in America).
Born in Scotland in 1595; son of (Sir) Alexander COLQUHOUN [F8832] and Marion STIRLING [F8833].
It is said that he married miss Montrose, but this seems to be a confusion with his great uncle John, Sixteenth Lord Colquhoun, who married Lillias Graham, miss Montrose.
He was the first Baronet of Nova Scotia, Canada. The Baronetage of the Colquhoun clan of Nova Scotia was established on 30 August 1625. Also in furthering the confusion, his great uncle John is also said to have been the first Baronet Colquhoun of Nova Scotia. {S6].
Deported to America after being made prisoner at the battle of Dunbar 1650. He supposedly died in route to America. {S7}.
He died in Nova Scotia, Canada in 1647.
