Jacob ALDRICH and Huldah THAYER

HUSBAND:

Born (2 APR 1644-S1)( 28 Feb 1652-1653-S2,S3) at Braintree, Norfolk County, Massachusetts; son of George ALDRICH [F4360] and Katherine SEALD [4361]
He married Huldah THAYER [F2181] on 3 November (1675-S2,S3)(1685-S1) at Mendon (Medfield-S2,S3).

Jacob and Huldah were members of the Congregational church.

He died (2 APR 1685-S1)( 22 October 1695-S2,S3) at (Braintree, Plymouth County-S1)( Mendon, Worcester County-S2,S3), Massachusetts. Jacob died without a will, leaving an estate of 267 pounds (about $30,000 today). They had difficulty dividing the estate, so the farm was sold to oldest son Jacob for 183 pounds. {S4}.

Born on 16 June 1657 at Braintree, Norfolk County, Massachusetts; daughter of Ferdinando THAYER [F4362] and Huldah HAYWARD [F4363].

She married Jacob ALDRICH [2180] on 3 NOV (1685-S1)(1675-S2) at (Mendon-S1)(Medfield-S2), Worchester County, Massachusetts.

She died (about 1699-S1,S2)(about 1707-S2,S3) at Mendon, Worchester County, Massachusetts.

CHILDREN of Jacob ALDRICH [F2180] and Huldah THAYER [F2181]:
  1. Jacob Aldrich. (Aldridge). Born on 8 May 1676 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts. He married Margery Hayward, daughter of Samuel Hayward and Mehitabel Thompson, on 15 September 1699 in Mendon. Margery was born 9 Nov 1682 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 11 May 1759 in Mendon. Jacob and Margery were farmers. Two of Margery's sisters married two of Jacob's brothers (Seth and Peter). Jacob's will, dated 5 May 1748, gives the house, furnishings and 30 pounds ($500) to his wife; the farm land, equipment and animals were divided between sons Jacob and Noah. Jacob and Margery had ten children. He died on 23 August 1753 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
  2. Abel Aldrich. Born on 27 Jananuary 1678 in Braintree, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.
  3. Seth Aldrich. Born on 3 July 1679 in Braintree, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. He married (1) Deborah Hayward, daughter of Samuel Hayward and Mehitabel Thompson. Deborah was born 9 Nov 1682 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. Seth and Deborah were farmers, and were Quakers. Two of Deborah's sisters married two of Seth's brothers (Jacob and Peter). Seth and Deborah had eight children. They moved to Uxbridge about 1715, and Deborah died the same year, in 1715 in Uxbridge (Worcester) Massachusetts. Seth married (2) Mary in 1715 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. Mary was born in 1682 in Braintree (Norfolk) Massachusetts, and died sometime after 1737 in Uxbridge (Worcester) Massachusetts. Seth's will was dated 26 Sept 1737 in Uxbridge, and probated 1 Nov 1737. He died on 15 Oct 1737 in Uxbridge (Worcester) Massachusetts. A large amount of land and several hundred pounds were divided among his wife and children. Seth and Mary had seven children.
  4. Huldah Aldrich. Born on 17 Novembr 1680 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. She married Samuel Wilkinson. Samuel was born 18 Sep 1674 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts, and died 18 Jan 1727/26 in Providence (Providence) Rhode Island. They were Quakers. Huldah and Samuel had fifteen children.
  5. Rachel Aldrich. Born 22 February 1682 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts. She died on 25 November 1690 in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts.
  6. Sarah Aldrich. Born on 24 October 1683 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts. Sarah married Benjamin Thompson on 13 Mar 1709. Benjamin was born about 1683.
  7. David Aldrich. Born on 23 May 1685 in Massachusetts. He married Hannah CAPRON. He died on 15 Mar 1771.
  8. [F1090]. Peter ALDRICH. [PC M3-3]. Born on 17 October 1686 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He married Hannah HAYWARD [F1091] in 1706 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts. Two of Hannah's sisters married Peter's brothers (Jacob and Seth). Hannah was born 18 August 1680 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, and died in 1746 in Worcester County. They were farmers; the farm had horses, cows, pigs and sheep. Peter's will was written 18 January 1745 in Uxbridge, and probated 11 May 1748. Each daughter got either 25 pounds, or a couple of acres and about 5 pounds. Son Peter got the bulk of the land and animals, and the house. Peter and Hannah had seven children.
  9. John Aldrich. Born on 27 November 1688 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He married Penelope Pray, daughter of John Pray and Sarah Brown, in 1710 in Providence Co, Rhode Island,. Penelope was born in 1688 in Providence (Providence) Rhode Island, and died 25 Dec 1752 in Uxbridge (Worcester) Massachusetts. John and Penelope had eleven children. He died on 25 March 1750 in Uxbridge (Worcester) Massachusetts.
  10. Moses Aldrich. Quaker Preacher. Born 1 Apr 1690 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He married Hannah White, daughter of Joseph White and Lydia Copeland, on 23 Apr 1711 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. Hannah was born 9 Dec 1691 in Mendon (Worcester) Massachusetts. They were Quakers. Moses was a blacksmith and a preacher. He had considerable land, but we don't know if he farmed it himself. He joined the Quakers at age 21, about the same time that he married Hannah. Moses began preaching at 25. From 1722 to 1739 he traveled through most of the colonies, from Massachusetts to the Carolinas, then to Barbados. From 1739 to 1741 he preached in Ireland and Britain. In his will Moses gives one third of his estate to Hannah, most of the land to Luke and Moses, the moveable items to his daughters, and the remainder to his other sons. Moses and Hannah had twelve children. He died on 9 September 1761 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
  11. Mercy Aldrich. Born on 17 February 1692 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts. She died on 18 March 1693 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
  12. Rachel Aldrich. Born on 27 December 1694 in Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts. Rachel married Samuel Thayer.
